About Our School

Principal’s Message

St Macartan’s is a Catholic Primary School in which the school community is challenged and empowered to live out Gospel values. As a Catholic school, knowledge of the Catholic faith and Christian values will be modelled and emphasised.

We value and respect the importance of working together as a team and believe that we all have an opportunity to make St Macartan’s the best it can be.

We aim to provide a secure and caring environment where children can experience success and achieve their full potential. Our staff are committed to the development of the whole child. Children are challenged to aspire to excellence, to develop positive values, to show respect towards authority, each other and the wider community. As a school,we are supported by our Parish Priest, the wider Parish community of St. Macartan’s and our wonderful parents.

Hopefully, this will be a most rewarding and satisfying partnership for you and your family.

Our Mission

Our school's mission is to:

Democratic Principles

Teaching and Learning Programs at St. Macartan’s support and promote the Principles and Practice of Democracy including a commitment to:

St Macartan's Parish Primary School  is a school which operates with the consent of the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne and is operated and governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS).

MACS governs and operates 292 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to continue the mission of Catholic education to proclaim the Good News and equip our young people with the knowledge, skills and hope to live meaningful lives and enrich the world around them.

Because the good work of educating the young is a co-responsible task led by every member of the Catholic school community, School Advisory Councils have been established to provide a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders.

This governance model was designed to ease the administrative burden on our schools and parishes, allow parish priests to focus on the mission of education in the parish, enable greater collaboration between schools and ensure greater consistency in school policies and procedures.
